Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party
Chapter Six The Great Wave of Tuidang
1. The Establishment and Application of the Tuidang Website
In December 2004, The Epoch Times newspaper received the first statement to withdraw from the CCP. On January 1, 2005, fifty overseas Chinese scholars jointly announced their withdrawal from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. On the same day, tuidang.epochtimes.com was established as a platform and database to publish and record the Tuidang declarations. Each declaration is unique and identified by the date, time (accurate to the second), the person’s name, location and the statement’s contents. Each statement is given a numerical ID, which also serves as a counter of the total number of individuals who have quit the Party. This tallied number is updated in real time on the website. To ensure the security and reliability of the database, an independent server is maintained and special software has been developed to analyze the data.
1.2 Analysis on the number of people quitting and the movement’s trend
The following is a chart showing the total daily number of people quitting the CCP in 2017:
Several data fluctuations can be analyzed from the chart:
- 1) There was a significant decline in the number between January 25 and February 5, 2017. This is because January 28 was the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year. A large number of people returned from where they worked or studied to their hometowns to visit families and relatives, soschools were closed, and Internet cafes everywhere were closed.
- 2) During the period between July 15 and August 30, 2017, there was a small decrease in the number. The reason was that the Chinese primary schools, middle schools and universities were closed for the summer vacation. Since the proportion of students among the people who renounced their memberships in the CCP and its affiliated organizations was not large, the impact was not very obvious.
- 3) After September 20, the number clearly dropped, and this situation continued until early November. The reason for this temporary decline is that the CCP’s 19th National Congress was held in late October 2017. In order to further control public opinion, the CCP had severely tightened its Internet censorship and various firewall bypassing software failed to work. The tightened Internet censorship began in mid-September and continued until early November.
- 4) At some specific points in time, when some commemorative activities or “mass events” (i.e. civil unrests) took place in mainland China, the number of people quitting the Party would increase. In Kunming, Yunnan Province, after several city inspectors hacked and wounded a street vendor on April 26, 2017, a civil unrest took place, and the news immediately went viral online. And in the several days after the incident, the number of people quitting the Party increased. In another instance, during the commemorative period of the Tiananmen Square massacre and shortly after, the number of people quitting the Party also increased.
- 5) Along with the introduction of several strict Internet control laws and regulations by the CCP, the number of people quitting the Party would temporarily drop due to the tightened Internet censorship. For example, at the end of May 2017, the CCP introduced the “Internet Security Law” and the “Provisions for the Administration of Internet News Information Services”, which were implemented on June 1, 2017.
We took out four weeks of data for a more detailed analysis. For instance, in December 2017:
After eliminating some interference factors, the weekly data show some regular patterns of changes.
For example, during the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays in China), the daily number of people quitting the Party would decrease, and it would increase on Monday. The number would basically remain on the same level during the workweek. In the above chart, December 2, December 3, December 9, December 10, December 16, December 17, December 23, December 24, December 27 and December 28, 2017 were all weekends.
We cooperated with Dynaweb, which is the firewall bypassing software heavily used by Chinese netizens, and identified the mainland Chinese people who renounced their CCP memberships based on their statements’ IP addresses. The trend chart is shown below.
The blue-colored line in the chart is the daily numbers of the people quitting the Party. The orange line represents the daily numbers of the mainland Chinese individuals quitting the party, and the data were collected through Dynaweb and UltraSurf (with relatively fixed IP addresses). However, when Dynaweb and UltraSurf were severely blocked, the Tuidang volunteers, who help others quit the CCP, would access the tuidang.epochtimes.com website through other firewall bypassing methods. From the chart, we can see more clearly that the daily numbers of people quitting the Party are affected by episodes of civil unrest in China and tightening of Internet censorship by the CCP.
2. The Truth Clarification andTuidang Sites Around the World
2.1 Map Distribution and Quantity of Tuidang Sites Around the World
According to the latest statistics compiled by Taiwanese volunteers who help the Chinese people quit the CCP, Taiwan currently has more than 40 truth clarification sites, including the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, Sun Moon Lake and the Alishan National Scenic Area. In the map below, the Tuidang spot distributions were marked and labeled: USA_26 sites (in 12 cities); Canada_5 sites in 2 cities (label says 2 spots in 5 cities); Brazil_2; Great Britain_4 ; France_1; Germany_ 1; Hong Kong_6; Italy_1; Finland_1; Switzerland_2; Macao_1; Sweden_2; Russia_1; Australia_4; Korea_3; Turkey_1; Malaysia_1; Mainland China_uncountable underground truth-revealing sites in 34 provinces and major municipalities.
The pictures below are from Tuidang sites in the US, Canada, Brazil, Europe, and other countries/areas mention above:

2.2 Average Number of People Quitting at Tuidang Sites Daily and Means of Collecting Data from Around the World
The Tuidang site at New York’s Rockefeller Center located in Times Square, New York has an average of 14 to 15 people quitting the Party on a daily basis. The Tuidang volunteers at this site mainly clarify the truth to passing tourists. After a volunteer clarifies the truth to an individual, if the person consents, the volunteer helps create an assumed name for him/her and immediately records it on a special form. The site coordinator then carefully checks the information on a daily basis, including the volunteers’ serial ID numbers, the individuals’ assumed (or real) names, the organizations (i.e. the Party, the Youth League and the Young Pioneers) from which the individuals withdraw and so on. If the recorded info is unclear or does not meet the specified requirements, the coordinator immediately contacts the volunteers to make amendments before compiling and submitting the information to the Global Tuidang Center.
The volunteers at the Global Tuidang Center carefully verify the Tuidang information, submit it to tuidang.epochtimes.com and record the Tuidang certificate numbers issued by this website. After 24 hours, they check again to see whether the Tuidang certificates (with the statements) have been officially published or not. If not, they contact the Tuidang site’s volunteers, verify and make corrections to the information and submit again to tuidang.epochtiems.com. They check once again after 24 hours to make sure that the Tuidang statements have been published. Afterwards, they produce a statistical summary of the Tuidang info.
Mr. and Mrs. Han have been helping people quit the Party for nearly four years at the Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. With their help, more than 8 0 , 0 0 0 p e o p l e h a v e withdrawn from the Party. Mr. and Mrs. Han started clarifying the truth and helping people quit the party at this famous tourist attraction in October 2013. When they first started, nobody would withdraw from the Party. Later on, three or four people would quit the party each day. Slowly, the Tuidang numbers have increased. Nowadays, they help more than 100 people quit the Party every day.
2.3 Tuidang Service in Taiwan
As a base for the revival of the traditional Chinese culture, Taiwan has played a major role in helping mainland Chinese tourists quit the Party. In addition to running more than 40 Tuidang sites, Taiwanese volunteers are also persistent in making Tuidang phone calls to Chinese mainlanders. From the 12 years and 4 months between September 10, 2005 and January 31, 2018, Taiwanese volunteers have recorded 3,190,676 people quitting the Party. That is, during this time period, an average of 259,000 people per year or 710 people per day quit the Party with the help of these Taiwanese volunteers.
3. Truth Clarification and Assisting People to Quit the Party via Telephone
Shortly after The Epoch Times established the Tuidang website, volunteers from 24 countries in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania set up a Rapid Tuidang Center (RTC). Center volunteers call mainland Chinese people, manually or through automatic-calling devices, to inform them about the truth about Falun Dafa, the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, and the facts about how the CCP has been destroying the Chinese nation as well as to help people from all walks of life understand the truth and withdraw from the Party. Targeted callees range from ordinary Chinese citizens to and central government senior officials and military generals from all provinces and major municipalities across mainland China. In addition, two Tuidang hotlines were set up (001-8666976570 and 001-8888928757) that are manned by volunteers 24/7. The hotlines’ procedure to help people quit the Party is: the caller gives his/her real name or assumed name, a volunteer confirms the organization(s) this person wants to withdraw from and whether or not he/she has already quit the organization(s) in the past, the volunteer records the relevant information, enters the info into the database on the tuidang.epochtimes.com website on the same day and obtains a Tuidang registration number for this individual. The volunteer also clarifies the truth about Falun Dafa to the caller and advises him/her to recite “Falun Dafa is great” frequently in the future.
The map below shows the distribution of all calls, in the millions, made to different regions across China.
The picture below is the distribution of all calls made to different regions, in millions.
3.1 Current Situation and Analysis
Manual calling is done mainly to those Chinese mainlanders who have already listened to recorded Tuidang messages but have not had the chance to go through the formalities of withdrawing from the Party. According to incomplete statistics, in 2015 alone, 912,413 Tuidang calls were made manually and 99,145 callees quit the Party. In 2016, a total of 907,110 manual calls were made and 78,782 callees quit the Party. In 2017, a total of 748,014 manual calls were made with 39,974 people renouncing their membership in communist organizations.
Some tools and devices are used to make automatic phone calls. In this case, the callees quit the Party mainly through listening to the Tuidang message recordings to learn the truth and pressing the right button to indicate their decision to withdraw from the Party and to complete the Tuidang procedure. Before quitting the party, the callees have the option to press a button to request a RTC volunteer call them back manually to provide more information about Tuidang. According to incomplete statistics, there are 500-600 million RTC automatic phone calls made every year that have helped many people learn the truth and withdraw from the Party.
[The chart below depicts the telephone calls (orange line) vs. the number of 3 Quits or Tuidang (green line) between 2009 and 2017.]
3.2 Several RTC Recordings in which Callees Quit the Party
1) A government official received a RTC call and below is the conversation taking place after he understood the RTC volunteer’s purpose.
Official: “I am a cadre, and I’ve never been corrupt. I am a good person, so I don’t need to quit the party.”
Volunteer: “Sir, there are not many people like you nowadays. I hope that you are safe now, but it will be a true blessing when disaster strikes and you remain safe. What’s the use of the Party, the Youth League and the Young Pioneers? They do many bad things and you have to be a scapegoat for them? The vows (you made to join these organizations) have been forgotten by people but not by heaven. Getting rid of these poisonous vows can only benefit you, without any negative consequences. You might as well quit the CCP!”
Upon hearing the volunteer’s reasoning, the official promised to quit the party. However, when Falun Gong was mentioned, he became very agitated and started to shout abuse.
Volunteer: “Sir, you sound like a very loyal, just and straightforward person. I understand your feelings very well, but I want to tell you that the news on TV is fake and you have been deceived. (Then the volunteer explained the truth about Falun Gong in detail.) I just hope that good people like us don’t treat other good people unjustly. You are such a kind person. Surely you don’t want to be deceived, right?”
Official: “After listening to you today, I finally understand it. So that’s how it is!”
2) Another official: “I am an atheist, so it’s useless to say this much to me.” He then hung up. The volunteer called back.
Volunteer: “Sir, so I will use ‘Xiufu’ (cultivate blessing) as an assumed name to help you withdraw from the Party, the Youth League and the Young Pioneers to keep you safe. ‘Xiu’ (cultivate) as in self-cultivation, and ‘fu’ (blessing) as in the idiom ‘five blessings descending on the house’.”
The official laughed in a clear and loud voice after listening to her words: “Lady, you have such a high cultural quality! ‘Xiu’ as in self-cultivation, and ‘fu’ as in the idiom ‘five blessings descending on the house’. You know about all these ancient cultural terms?”
Volunteer: “Sir, you have kept your roots. This indicates that you are not an ordinary person. You know our traditional culture and that you belong to the elite of China. The CCP wants the elite to put up an impressive front for them, so it drags you into joining it to strengthen it and to make you its scapegoat. You should withdraw from it right now!”
After listening to this, the official changed his previous dismissive attitude toward the volunteer and happily quit the party. Before hanging up the phone, he added, “You are here to offer salvation to people!”
3) The director of a district civilization office hung up twice when a RTC volunteer called him.
With the third call he said, “I am drinking, come and keep me company.”
He then hung up again. When the volunteer called him a fourth time, he picked the phone up again.
Volunteer: “Director, I’m not joking. I have something important to tell you. I’ve heard that your district broadcasts slander against Falun Gong. Is this true?
Director, you should not do this. Falun Gong is legal all over the world. Jiang Zemin has been sued by courts in over 30 countries. Xi Jinping can’t wait to distance himself from Jiang. Are you still following Jiang Zemin?”
Director: “If you dare, you come over here and talk to me. Then I’ll do whatever!”
Volunteer: “Director, do you know that there is one organization in the world that specifically investigates the persecution of Falun Gong? It is called the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), and all those who have participated in the persecution have been put on record and will be investigated to the end. All will be held responsible for their crimes in the future. I’m calling you because this matter concerns you. You are the director of the Civilization Office, right?” Upon hearing this, the director sighed and said, “Alas! I really quit doing this now!”
4) After a Chinese citizen picked up the phone, he said, “Don’t make such calls to me. I don’t believe what you’re saying.”
Volunteer: “Withdrawing from the Party is to keep you safe. Your life belongs to you. Don’t sacrifice it to the Communist Party!”
Citizen: “Then I don’t want my life anymore.” He then hanged up the phone. The volunteer called him again. He picked up and asked, “Have you been brainwashed?”
Volunteer: “It’s the CCP that brainwashes people, sir. I practice Falun Gong. Before I started practicing, I had illnesses all over my body. So I read the book Zhuan Falun. Afterwards, I haven’t taken any medication in the past 20 years. I am physically and mentally healthy, and I feel light when walking. I have personally benefited from practicing Falun Dafa, and I want to bring the wonderfulness of Falun Gong to every single kind individual. Now, Falun Gong is being persecuted in China. Many people have been deceived by lies. I just want to talk to you from the bottom of my heart today, to let you know that Falun Dafa is great and that you should not be deceived by lies. You see, the Communist Party even fabricated the Tiananmen Square self-immolation creating fake news in order to incite hatred! Sir, are you a Party member? I’ll use the assumed name ‘Ankang’ (safe and healthy) to help you quit the Party and keep safe, okay?”
Volunteer: “Congratulations, you just need to quit the party once. This is sacred.” Citizen said loudly: “Great!”
5) One lady picked up the phone and listened quietly, then all of a sudden, she started talking.
Lady: “I know all this. I have read Falun Gong truth clarification materials, which I picked up somewhere. After reading it, I learned the truth. Falun Gong is wonderful. The CCP is so wicked! I know all this.”
Volunteer: “Have you quit the Party?”
Lady: “No.” She then withdrew from the Young Pioneers and said, “Falun Dafa is great! Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is great!”
3.3 Several RTC Volunteers’ Personal Stories
The Rapid Tuidang Center volunteers who help people quit the Party are all Falun Dafa practitioners who believe in “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance”. They range in age from 5 to 88 years. They come from all walks of life, including professionals, teachers, professors, housewives, journalists and computer engineers. There are also many chairmen and entrepreneurs, who run their own companies. More than 300 million people have quit the Party. Behind every cordial phone greeting and each Tuidang statement, there is a touching true story.
Ms. He from Canada is the owner of a grocery store. For more than 8 years, Ms. He has made tens of thousands of phone calls to China. While talking on the phone, sometimes she pauses to talk to customers in English, with the clicking sounds of a cash register audible.
Ms. Fei Yan, who now lives in the United States was originally from Guangdong Province. She gets up at 3:00 a.m., because that is 3 p.m. Beijing time, an excellent time to reach mainland Chinese people. She would rather change her own routine, take short breaks and/or not sleep in order to help as many Chinese people learn the truth as possible. When saving people, every second counts.
Ms. Gu, who lives in Japan, is a busy professional. She needs to take care of her 86-year-old mother-in-law and two children. Since their infancy, her now teenage children have watched her every day for a decade making calls to mainland China. Her children know that their mother is saving people. Sometimes, when Ms. Gu hasn’t made any calls, her children ask her anxiously, “Why haven’t you called, mom? Please call now, as I feel safe when listening to your calls.”
Li Shuxin, who lives in Toronto, Canada, is a 78-year-old grandmother from Shandong Province. When she started making Tuidang calls a decade ago, she would sweat every time when making a call, and found the truth clarification process very difficult. After learning that the CCP has been harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit, she was so sad that she burst into tears. In order to help more people learn the truth, she has overcome her innate difficulties and has tried to clearly explain the truth to people with a sincere heart. At the beginning, her daughter gave her a large notebook to record the Tuidang registration numbers for the people quitting the CCP. At first, she said that the notebook was too big for her to fill up. However, at present, Ms. Li has helped 15,909 mainland Chinese individuals withdraw from the Party and the registration numbers have filled up 10 such large notebooks.
Ms. Li once called a Chinese citizen and the person readily quit the Party. Ms. Li asked, “Do you have any friends beside you? I will help them quit the CCP, as well. Let’s all be safe, and you would be doing a great service to mankind!” The person replied happily, “Okay, there are more than 20 people beside me.” Ms. Li said, “I am not well-educated, so I’m quite slow in making up assumed names. Please tell me their names, whether they are male or female, and whether they have joined the CCP, the Youth League or the Young Pioneers in the past. I will write this down one by one.” In this way, one by one, every person told his/her name to Ms. Li. As a result, during this phone call, a total of 24 citizens quit the party and its affiliated organizations using their real names.
Yang Feng from Seattle and Yi Na from New Jersey strive to help at least 50 people quit the Party every day, day after day, year after year. In the past seven years, Yi Na has helped a total of 114,975 individuals withdraw from the Party. The CCP’s persecution is brutal yet concealed, so all Chinese people, including many people overseas, have inadvertently been involved with it. Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world clarify the truth to kind-hearted people who have been deceived by the CCP. On the one hand, there are the CCP’s overwhelming and deceitful lies and on the other hand, there are compassionate Falun Dafa practitioners, who persistently tell people the truth while offering lifesaving advice. Whenever people shout abuse at them over the phone and hang up, as long as they are willing to pick up the phone again, the volunteers would still be eager to clarify the truth to them. Just as little stokes fell the great oak trees, Falun Gong practitioners persist and do not give up as the countless souls who have learned the truth are their source of motivation.
At this moment in time, good and evil are locked in a life and death tug-of-war. Falun Gong practitioners volunteer their time, energy and money to make phone calls to save people, racing against time with utmost eagerness. They have persevered without complaints for more than a decade. If you receive their calls, please don’t hang up. Rather, listen to them patiently because these calls, made from all corners of the world, are opportunities for you to erase the mark of the evil CCP beast and embrace a better future.
4. Mainland Chinese Tuidang Volunteers
In mainland China, the Tuidang volunteers are mainly Falun Dafa practitioners. As individuals and in groups, they clarify the truth to mainland Chinese people to help them quit the Party. The main forms they use include: face-to-face conversations, distributing truth clarification materials, making phone calls, sending text messages and emails, and clarifying the truth on social media platforms. There are also a small number of non-practitioners who have learned the truth and actively help to spread the truth about Falun Gong, expose the true nature of the evil CCP and persuade others to withdraw from the Party.
As of April 2009, citing Minghui.org’s internal information, the article, “The Truth about Falun Gong has Spread to all the World Over” (https://www.zhengjian.org/node/233042) says mainland Chinese Falun Gong practitioners were running approximately 200,000 truth clarification material production sites.
Each production site provides various kinds of truth clarification materials for anywhere from 2 to 1,000 Falun Gong practitioners. At least 40 million practitioners have communicated with Minghui.org through truth clarification material production sites. Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China risk their lives, day after day, year after year, to persist in clarifying the truth to the Chinese people. It is estimated that among the Falun Gong practitioners who have been kidnapped, sent by the CCP to the now-defunct forced labor camps and/or sentenced to prison terms, at least 80% are persecuted for clarifying the truth to the Chinese people and helping them withdraw from the Party.
The photographs below are collections from mainland China regarding Tuidang:
4.2 The Stories of Tuidang Volunteers Who Escaped Abroad
Falun Gong practitioner Hu Zhiming is a graduate of the Air Force Engineering University in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province. After graduation, he worked at the Military Training Equipment Research Institute of the Air Force Headquarters in Beijing. Later, he held the rank of major, served as the acting director of the computer room, and won many awards.
After the CCP began its persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in 1999, he began clarifying the truth to people. In February 2000, when the then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan visited Beijing, Hu Zhiming and some other local practitioners jointly signed a letter to the UN exposing the real situation with the CCP’s persecution. Immediately, he was illegally arrested and detained by his military unit and placed in a small cell for three months. After returning home, he was often harassed by the local police station, was forced to leave home and became homeless. On October 4, 2000, Hu Zhiming was arrested in a hotel in Shanghai and on September 2001, he was illegally sentenced to four years in prison. On September 23, 2005, since he was telling people about the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and the great wave of people quitting the Party within China and overseas, he was illegally kidnapped by the local state security bureau and police and again sentenced to four years in prison. During this incarceration, he was severely tortured and was sent to the emergency center many times on the verge of death.
The long-term abuse and torture resulted in the paralysis of his lower limbs. He lost the ability to walk and had to sit in a wheelchair brought to the prison by his family. On September 22, 2009, when his prison sentence expired, Hu Zhiming returned home in the wheelchair. Though persistent practice of the Falun Gong exercises, he was able to stand again in just two months. On the afternoon of August 2, 2012, Hu Zhiming arrived at JFK Airport in New York, after having narrowly escaped death.
Sun Yi, a Falun Gong practitioner, lived in Shijingshan District in Beijing for many years. In 1987, he graduated from Dalian University of Technology, majoring in marine internal combustion engine technology. Since 1994, he worked at CNPC Logging Co., Ltd. in Beijing, part of the China National Petroleum Corporation. He was recognized as a wonderful person by members of his family, his neighbors and fellow work unit employees. After the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, he was dismissed from his company and was illegally detained many times. He was tortured by the “stretching bed”, the “hanging up” torture, “mouth opening device”, the “death bed”, the “needling”, “solitary confinement” and other torture methods.
After being dismissed by his work unit, Sun Yi never worked again. During his time at home, he provided technical support to other Falun Gong practitioners including assistance with computers, truth clarification cellphones, printers, set-top boxes, and other equipment adjustment and maintenance which helped the practitioners around him break through the CCP’s Internet blockade in order to spread the truth about Falun Dafa and help people withdraw from the Party. During his illegal detainment at Masanjia Labor Camp in 2008, Sun Yi was forced to work 15 hours a day, without weekends or holidays. The labor camp also used various abusive methods, including beatings, deprivation of sleep and torture, to torment people. During his incarceration, he stuffed more than 20 SOS letters into Halloween decorations destined for export. In 2012, a woman in Oregon, United States found one of his SOS letters from Masanjia Labor Camp in a Halloween toy set. In November 2013, CNN published an article entitled Chinese labor camp inmate tells of true horror of Halloween ‘SOS’, which captured international attention.
On April 20, 2016, while Sun Yi was out of town, the Shijingshan Police Bureau in Beijing suddenly and illegally ransacked his home and asked his family about his whereabouts. As a result, he could never return home and once again became displaced. On November 29, 2016, Sun Yi was kidnapped from the court of Tongzhou, Beijing, while attending the trial of a fellow practitioner. After four days, he was bailed out for health reasons. On December 6, 2016, Sun Yi successfully escaped from China.
5. Chinese Celebrities and People Quitting the Party in Groups
The Tuidang movement is impacting the heart of every single Chinese person. Due to the special circumstances in mainland China, Chinese people can use assumed names or nicknames to declare their withdrawal from the Party.
However, there are also many who have acted as heroes, stepping forward and using their real names to openly quit the Party. For example, on January 1, 2010, Zhang Kaichen, the former director of liaison at the Propaganda Department of the Shenyang municipal government, held a press conference in New York and publicly announced his withdrawal from the CCP. He said that “the nature of the CCP is cultic tyranny. Its persecution of Falun Gong is more evil than the Nazis. Whether a person opposes the persecution of Falun Gong or not is a yardstick for testing his/her moral standards. The evil tyranny of the CCP depends on two things: lies and violence.”
In September 2017, Xue Yinxian, the former doctor of the Chinese National Sports Team, who was living in exile in Germany, publicly announced her withdrawal from the Chinese Communist Party. The well-known Chinese singer Guan Guimin, China Writers Association’s former Party Secretary Meng Weizai, Nobel Peace Prize nominee and famous human rights lawyer Gao Zhisheng, Nobel Peace Prize nominee and Beijing human rights activist Hu Jia, Shanxi Provincial Science and Technology Experts Association’s former Secretary General Jia Jia and many others have also announced their withdrawal from the Party. Furthermore, many other well-known Chinese dissidents have publicly announced their Tuidang, such as Wei Jingsheng, leader of the “Beijing Spring” democracy movement; human rights lawyer Guo Guoting; human rights lawyer Zheng Enchong; Li Fengzhi, former intelligence officer of China’s Ministry of National Security; poet Jiang Pinchao; columnist Du Daobin; and well-known human rights activist Zhou Yongjun.
It is not only celebrities who are stepping forward to publicly quit the Party. More and more groups of Chinese people are awakening and withdrawing from the Party. For example, in May 2005, 25 officials of the CCP’s Central Party School jointly issued a statement to quit the Party, shocking the CCP Central Committee. On December 8, 2007, 32 CCP members of the Party branch in Luzhuang Village, Guanyun County, Jiangsu Province quit the Party. In October 2012, 72 workers at the Jiannanchun winery in Sichuan Province collectively quit the Party. Soon afterwards, 5,000 projectionists collectively decided to publicly quit the party. In 2015, 1,003 employees of a dyeing factory in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province publicly declared their withdrawal from the Party. In May 2017, 50 people in Dali County, Shaanxi Province announced their withdrawal from the CCP. For more than six decades under CCP rule, an endless stream of social problems have emerged in China causing widespread indignation and discontent. The Chinese people have completely lost confidence in the CCP. The increased number of large group withdrawals from the CCP demonstrate that the Chinese people are rapidly awakening and that the great tide of people quitting the Party is advancing swiftly. The CCP will eventually disintegrate as a result of this surging wave of Tuidang.
6. The Unstoppable Wave of Quitting the Party – A Positive Movement
In mainland China, the Tuidang volunteers are primarily Falun Dafa practitioners who have persistently clarified the truth to people and helped them quit the Party in various ways. At the present moment, there are many Falun Gong practitioners who have each, over the years, helped more than 10,000 or even over 100,000 individuals quit the Party.
For example, according to Minghui.org, an 87-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, who started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996, has helped more than 10,000 people quit the Party each year since 2005. As of November 2017, she had already helped more than 110,000 people quit the Party. This Falun Gong practitioner said, “I go out to clarify the truth to people every day, 365 days a year, even if there’s wind and/or rain. And I wouldn’t take a break even during the Chinese New Year holidays unless there are special circumstances which prevent me from going out.
However, (if that’s the case), I would make it up the next day or in the afternoon of the same day. For instance, I would help 30 people quit the Party every day. If I miss one day, on the next day, I would make it up. I would have to help 60 people quit the Party. I persist in doing this every day, and the number hasn’t decreased even a bit… Now, going out to clarify the truth every day has become my job. I would go out at a certain time. I would feel uncomfortable if I don’t go out.”
On October 11, 2006, Minghui.com reported the story of a 12-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner, who had assisted several hundred people to quit the Party. Shunzi (a pseudonym) was only 12 years old in 2006, but he had been practicing Falun Dafa with his mother since he was very young. He started helping the people around him quit the Party in the spring of 2005. At the beginning, he heard his mother encouraging his sister to persuade her classmates and good friends to quit the Youth League and the Young Pioneers, so he told his mother, “I also want to help people quit the CCP and its organizations!” His mother thought that he was too young, so she didn’t pay attention to him, but he started pestering his mother to teach him how to persuade others to quit the CCP. So his mother taught him several simple ways. During the summer vacation, according to his mother’s requirements, Shunzi would study the Fa (Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Dafa) and send forth righteous thoughts before going out to play. Whenever he went out to play, day or night, he would not forget to persuade other people to quit the Party in order to save them. Later, Shunzi not only helped primary school students to quit the Young Pioneers, but he had also helped middle school students, university students, young adults, middle-aged people and even the elderly quit the Party. In the evenings, he would often come upon adults taking their children out for a walk. He would play with the children first and then help the children quit the Young Pioneers. Then, he would convince the children’s parents to quit the CCP. He also clarified the truth to many children who withdrew from the Young Pioneers themselves and then went home to persuade their family members and all their relatives to quit the CCP as well. Later, they would find Shunzi to help them all quit the Party. He usually helped over a dozen, 20, 30 and at most 60 people quit the Party each day. As of October 2006, he had helped more than 600 people quit the CCP. During the summer vacation alone, he persuaded nearly 400 people to withdraw from the Party. Even after the school started, Shunzi said that he still found time to persuade as many people as possible to quit the Party.
On July 6, 2014, Minghui.org reported a story of a truth clarification phone call that helped 30 people quit the Party. In this article, the Tuidang volunteer stated, “I started clarifying the truth to save people with this project in March (2014). In mere four months, I already helped nearly 2,000 people quit the Party.
Now the average daily number of people quitting the CCP is 30 though the actual numbers are often far larger than this. The number of cellphones that I use to clarify the truth has increased from one at the beginning to about 40 now, done in accordance with my own financial condition. On the weekends and during the holidays, the number of people quitting the Party can double the usual daily number.”
As shown in the photographs below, Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China hang truth clarification banners and boards, write quitting the CCP slogans and post Tuidang statements in the streets, on telegraph poles, walls and in residential quarters to help people learn the truth and withdraw from the Party.
On the front page of the Jinzhou Evening News published on September 27, 2009 in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, there was a slogan that read “Heaven eliminates the CCP”. Various overseas Chinese media reprinted the news story about the slogan appearing on the front page of the Jinzhou Evening News. China’s Sina Blog later published an article titled “Shocking: someone offers 10,000 yuan to purchase a certain issue of Jinzhou Evening News!” In order to evoke a celebratory atmosphere in society before the CCP regime’s anniversary on October 1, 2009, the Jinzhou Evening News selected a location outside the Liaoxi Small Merchandise Market to take the large-scale photo for the newspaper’s front page. As it turned out, in the lower left corner of this photo, on the bicycle parking fence of the market, the slogan of “Heaven eliminates the CCP, Quit it to ensure safety” was displayed, calling on the citizens to quit the CCP and withdraw from the Youth League and the Young Pioneers.
Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China also hand write words or print truth clarification information on renminbi bills to persuade people to quit the Party, turning Chinese currency into powerful tools for passing on the message of “Heaven eliminates the CCP, Quit it to ensure safety”. Though the number of words are small, the message is huge, which makes the CCP very scared. A large amount of truth clarification currency is circulating on the market and anyone can read the truth. Some people also wrote their own quit Party statements on currency. Examples are shown below:
