New York: Government Proclamations Supporting Falun Gong

The State Senate of New York passed a resolution recognizing Falun Dafa for bringing better health and inner peace to millions around the world, on May 13, the 15 th World Falun Dafa Day.
Falun Gong was first introduced to New York State in 1996 and has grown to include hundreds of practitioners, who have contributed to their communities by offering free workshops in senior centers, corporate offices, health clubs, private residences, and police stations.
The resolution was proposed by 14 state senators. It is the 4 th such resolution passed by the State Senate since 2011.
This year is the 22 nd anniversary of Falun Dafa’s public introduction. Five towns on Long Island also issued proclamations supporting Falun Dafa and celebrating World Falun Dafa Day, including Islip, Smithtown, Riverhead, Southhampton, and Southold.
On the same day, an estimated 8,000 practitioners of Falun Gong from around the world, participated in a large-scale experience sharing conference at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
A highlight of the day for many was the appearance of Master Li Hongzhi, the founder of the practice, who gave a speech and answered questions from his students for close to two hours before the lunch recess. Master is a common title of address for qigong masters, who were free to teach practices of mind and body cultivation, like Falun Gong, in China before 1999. Li has lived in the United States since 1997.

The Canadian government will be able to freeze assets of these people that are held in Canada. Previously, Canada had applied the law to human rights abusers from Venezuela and Russia, preventing the culprits from accessing the country’s financial system. In 2018, about 17 Saudi Arabian nationals were sanctioned for their ties to the Jamal Khashoggi murder case. The letter also highlights the communist threat faced by Canadian citizens, both domestically and abroad. In...
